Why she loves me...
Amanda and I were sitting on the couch yesterday while she was assembling her flute so she could show me that she can play Mary Had A Little Lamp, which she did beautifully by the way. So she is telling me that in Health class yesterday they watched a video on Verbal Abuse. I guess they did this so that those poor kids out there who don't realize that their parents are fucked up child abusers can get a clue and hopefully some help. She goes on to tell me that the video was mostly grown ups that were sharing their stories about when they were kids and what happened to them. One of them really stayed with her. It was a story about a little boy whose mother would give him a glass of milk every night before he went to sleep and one night he asked for a second glass and his mom told him no, that he wouldn't be able to drink it all. Well that poor little boy thought that he would be able to and so his mother gave him the milk and when he couldn't finish it, she dumped it on his head and made him go to bed like that.
What a fucking bitch.
But Amanda told me that all she could think about was how lucky she was that she has me and that she couldn't wait to get home and tell me she loved me and give me a hug.
So I guess I'm doing something right huh?

My Amanda
Took this at the Tom Petty concert last week. Amanda and I had such a phenominal time. She [hearts] Tom Petty. Got her a t-shirt that says "She Was An American Girl" on the front and the back says "Raised on Promises". I so rock as a mom.
