Well today was Emilee's field trip to the zoo. It started off great, we saw the monkeys, birds and leopards before the butterfly exhibit (which was my favorite place)... Then we headed into the 'African' exhibit... We saw all of your basic exotic animals... kangaroos, giraffes, elephants, African antelope, zebras... Then we get the lions and tigers and RAIN! We are probably on the complete opposite side of the zoo from ANY kind of cover to keep us from getting soaked when this happens... our umbrella didn't stand a chance... especially since it is of average size and it was Emilee, her friend Wendy and me. This wasn't your average rain either, this was the dumping huge drops of rain. The kind that has you soaked to the skin in thirty seconds flat. We had to run, which is awkward when holding an umbrella over two kids and yourself, to the restaurant on the other side of the zoo to get out of the rain. We were all SOAKED by the time we got there... all the kids were. All of these kids are jammed into the restaurant with teachers and parents and they are all crying, tons and tons of crying kids. I have never laughed so hard in all my life than I did standing around with a hundred wet, crying kids. It was really a funny site. All the parents glaring at me, but I couldn't help it! Emilee and I got out of there before the field trip was technically over with. We had to run to the car in water that was up to our ankles!!!! Bless her heart, I made her take her clothes off in the car and put on a spare jacket.
