being a mom
Being a mom rocks.
Have I ever mentioned that? lol
Well, anyway, it rocks.
I spent a couple of hours this afternoon teaching my daughters how to change a flat tire and allowing them to do most of the work. They enjoyed it and I realized that it is something that they need to know. I talked to two girlfriends who both said they've never changed a tire before. What? OMG. I was lucky that the tire went flat at home and that I was able to take care of it at my leisure.
And the whole time I am out there with the girls, watching them jack the car up and loosen the lug nuts, I am thinking that these are MY daughters. They are going to so fucking rock. I mean, they already do, but they will just rock more and more as time goes on.
Amanda asked me today if we could go back to the cemetery. We went there the other day to take pictures (
which you can see here) and they had such an absolute blast. I have to admit I was surprised by how much fun they had. Who would have thought that this would become a hobby for the girls and I? Hanging out in cemeteries. Anyway, I have promised that we will go again this week.
Even tiny things like today. Like the lesson of changing a tire, or the good cry Amanda had in my arms when she got home from her friends house after the two of them had their fight, or the fact that they want to go do something with me that I enjoy... these are the things that make my being a mom so absolutely awesome.

"I just got done reading the history lessons on your blog (yes, I've been lurking on your blog). All the respect I had for you...has increased, like, tenfold. I don't think I could have done it. To go through what you have and not only still be able to discuss it with such wit and poise, but also to raise those three gorgeous girls. You are truly an inspiration. You are honestly one of the strongest people I have ever known, either online or IRL. Thank you so much." -Stef
