This was one I'd never thought of until I read it on a conservation site. I immediately started turning the offending temperature down instead of turning the other up. What was awesome was the first time I heard Emilee telling Triniti about it!
Run your clothes washer and dishwasher only when they are full. You can save up to 1,000 gallons a month.
Use the garbage disposal sparingly. Compost vegetable food waste instead and save gallons every time.
Use a broom instead of a hose to clean your driveway and sidewalk and save water every time.
Empty unfinished glasses of water into plants, not down the drain.
This has been one of the most used savings I have implemented at my house. You really don't realize how many unfinished glasses of water go down the drain until you start watering plants with them or giving them to pets. It saves a bunch of water!
Wash your pets outdoors in an area of your lawn that needs water.
If you accidentally drop ice cubes when filling your glass from the freezer, don't throw them in the sink. Drop them in a house plant instead.
Avoid flushing the toilet unnecessarily. Dispose of tissues, insects and other such waste in the trash rather than the toilet.
What other water saving techniques are ya'll using that we may never even have thought of?
