too much
It's too much right now for me to write in here.
I'm focused on making some major life changing decisions that I can't talk about publicly yet.
Fairy had her baby, Jude and I want to spend every spare second smelling his head.
School starts next week and I've got menus to plan and sleeping schedules to reset.
I'm busy.
I'm crazy.
I miss ya'll.
Love you,
~KHE

Why I haven't been blogging this time:
See this?
This is my closet...
Yeah, sure, it looks ok
now... (The blurry is a result of no flash on my bitchin' rad and inconveniently broken Nikon. I am sending it away to the doctors at Nikon this week. There will be sadness and no pictures.)

But that was because all of this:

well, it isn't in there any more.
You'll notice that the last shot is taken from inside my closet which is where I considered moving because the floor was all clean and vacuumed and outside the closet? Well it was just plain scary.
There was a battle of excruciating pain and epic proportions.
There was destruction, death, famine.
Children ran away and at least one adult cried.
It wasn't a pleasant experience by any means but it's finished.
Well, almost.
There are still some straggler boxes that I am trying to will into being organized and put away but, well you know how those straggler boxes can be.
Surly.
Surly and stubborn.

Dear Lovely Readers of LOC,
Unfortunately, given my recent promotion and very little time allotted for me to learn this new position, I have to let you know that I will be less than available in the coming days.
Absent is the word.
Also given that the last dude I decided to play with was a Slimy Weasel, I won't really have anything to write about anyway, so you aren't missing much.
You know, besides more of the same whiny shit that you are undoubtedly tired of reading :)
BTW - to those of you who are awesome and rock, thanks so much for your emails. I was shocked at how many of you wrote to remind me that I am also one of those people who is awesome and rocks :)
In the way of a mini update, all is well. My fence is staring to go up this week (assuming the rain stops) and I am getting all itchy to start gardening so I will be getting my green house in the next weekend or so. Also and possibly the most important is that I will be getting the internet again and hopefully within a week or two. So then I can send these updates from the comfort of my home and my pajamas.
Hang in there, I won't be gone too long.
Go read Snow's blog, she's got stuff.

Pretending to be domesticated...
So, my brother is insisting that we buy new cookware and dinnerware and bakeware and silverware.
That's a helluva lot of "wares"...
But I'm all "sure, I'll take care of it..." thinking
hey, it's shopping, it's bound to be fun!Wrong.
I looked around online for a few hours and then I called my brother and I was all, "uhm, so I was thinking we don't really need new pots and pans and dishes and shit. The ones we have are fine."
And he is all, "Kate, get new stuff. Your stuff is old. And shitty. And you can afford new stuff so get new stuff. Did I mention shitty?"
And I was all, "No, I don't want to."
Then there ensued a conversation about how most of my current cookware was given to me when I was broke and moving into a house and had no stuff. And so it was second hand cookware that had "seen better days" and doesn't match and is falling apart and WHY IN THE HELL WON'T YOU JUST BUY NEW SHIT KATE?
I skulked off and pouted about it for awhile and then admitted to my brother that I don't know my ass from good cookware or bakeware. Or hasn't he noticed in the last almost year that we have been living together that I hardly ever cook? And when I do it's because it's either A) Microwavable, B) From Freezer to Oven, or C) Pasta and Chicken.
ps. I make awesome pasta.
Given that little morsel of knowledge, wouldn't one assume that I am not the best person to make major purchases for kitchen? Unless it's a coffeemaker because I rock at buying those. Mostly because I have a tendency to break things and after you've broken like nine carafes, you are a coffeemaker buying goddess.
My brother told me to handle it and then refused to listen to me bitch about it anymore.
So I did what any smart chic would do, I called The Cake Lady. And we had a lengthy discussion about cookware and bakeware and she is all excited and I am trying to stay awake AND retain all of the knowledge she is giving me about various types of cooking apparatuses.
ps. this did not happen
I'm all, "I should just buy whatever it is that YOU have, your stuff looks good." And then she is all, "Well, you should see what different sets are out there because the set I have may not be the set that you will use." And I was all, "YOU MEAN THAT THERE ARE DIFFERENT KINDS OF SETS?"
And then I cried.
So I've put the whole bakeware and cookware and silverware thing on hold but decided this morning to peruse some of the dinnerware. Usually when I do this, I can look at dishes for all of like thirty minutes and then my brain starts screaming at me:
Stop it Kate! Stop it right now or I am leaving!!! And I am fairly certain
my brain has bailed out before, so I take these threats seriously.
But this morning, on overstock.com, I actually found a few sets that I like. Even though I think that they are ridiculously expensive.
Check it out people. Which one would you pick?

ps. I pretty much can't stand the coffee cups on all of them. But that's because I like HUGE coffee cups. And I guess I could find HUGE coffee cups that matched one or both of the colors on the plates and use those instead.
Like anyone actually
uses coffee cups with the dinner dishes anyway.

At home...
Surgery went well yesterday. The Cake Lady picked me up, took me for pancakes & Starbucks and then home where I went to sleep. I slept until about 5 virtually without any pain.
But oh baby let me tell you that after five when the numbness in my foot wore off? Yeah, it was like when I first broke it. Hurts like hell.
So basically I've been on the couch with my pain pills in pain & nauseated. So much so that I threw up this morning which was so fun.
Anyway, I've gotten all of your emails and voice messages and THANK YALL so much :) I promise I will get back with more once I stop feeling like shit. My doctor promises that today is going to be the worst day.

excuses, excuses, excuses
In no particular order, a list of reasons I have been a bad blogger:
- There was that boy that I was talking about here, but that has more or less faded. I swear, every time I think I may have met someone cool, they do something to prove me wrong.
- School started August 27th and this has become a huge adjustment in my household. Partially because of Triniti having to change her schedule and all the issues that arise when you do that and partially because my daughters are awesome and I have to make allowances for Student Council and UIL and all the other school related and not school related activities that they want to participate in.
- And speaking of my awesome children, I've been soliciting postcards, which many of you have sent and THANK YOU SO MUCH! I had originally intended to scan them all and post them here but there are TOO MANY! So that is great :)
- My new job came with a mini-social life. For the first time in my employment history, I am constantly being invited out to do things with the people I work with! While most of the time I have to say no, a few of my nights have actually been spent hanging out with the cool people with whom I work.
- I have had a cold for two weeks. Don't believe me? Ask Snow and she will tell you that I've been hacking in her ear for at least two weeks, if not 2.5. I don't know what the hell is going on. I usually get sick when the girls go back to school because they come home covered in nasty little school germies and my old lady immune system can't handle it. But this is ridiculous and I am forced to believe that it has more to do with the insane amount of crap in the air due to the even more insane amount of rain we've had this year.
- My brother is living with me right now and while that in itself is fine, he hogs the computer at home with his bizarre and fairly unappealing addiction to online games. Primarily this consists of some Risk like game that I have so little interest in, I can't even tell you what the name of it is. Follow that up with the fact that I am playing Fantasy Football at work (and by "me", I mean Snow's MCFJ is helping me and by "helping me", I mean mostly playing for me and telling me what to do) which takes up most of the online time I have in the evenings.
- My house is trying to kill me. It seems like no matter how much laundry I do or dishes I wash or floors I sweep, no sooner than I turn around they all need to be done again. And with feeling like crap almost since the girls have been back in school, I have not felt like cleaning.
- I got pulled over for speeding. And having an expired registration and inspection sticker. And not having a current copy of my insurance. That'll be a total of $213.
- I have been very busy being excited about my trip to Toronto :) Which is Thursday. Not like 'in a month' or 'in a few weeks' or even 'next Thursday' - nope, it is THURSDAY - like in three days!
- I also checked the weather for Toronto and had to rethink what I was packing when I saw that the high for Saturday is 60 degrees! (That's 16C for my Metric readers.) Lola is all "just bring a jacket" like "hey, 60 degrees is nothing! It's still Summer even!" She probably swims in 60 degrees, while I, your not-so-loyal-these-days blogger bundles up because 60 is effing cold.
- I'm checking out an assload of books on Aspergers to take with me on the flight so I can (hopefully) find some new ideas for ways to help Trin. I have noticed that when that girl is tired, it plays a huge factor into how much she can handle and on account of that, I have been putting her to bed pretty early.
- I have been lusting after Mac laptops online.
- I have been lusting after cute boy I work with.
- I have been self loathing because I am a cow. I look in the mirror and I feel like I am watching some kind of a horror flick and I can't stop watching it because it is so gross and completely unseen to me before. I am vowing to clean up my act when I get back from seeing Lola because stuff I wear when I feel "all fat and bloated" doesn't fit. It's horrible.
- I've been trying to convince ya'll to go to the beach with us and in doing so managed to offend a few of you. Let me clarify here people, I wouldn't have posted it here on my blog where I know you guys/gals read unless I wanted you to come. If it was a closed affair, I would have sent out a Top Secret email. If I know you, like you and you know this - I want you to come. If I've spent time on the phone with you or met you in Dallas at the S-Meet, I want you to come. I want you to call, reserve your room, pull your kids out of school for a couple of days and come hang out with us at the beach. It is going to be SOOOO much fun.
- I've been very diligently not cleaning my room.
- I've been watching Rock Of Love on VH1 which I know is sad, but I can't stop.
- I've been fighting with Sprint. A little background: I bought a Blackberry 7130e back in February. Shortly after I got it, I started having dropped calls a lot which had never happened with my old Sprint phone. Then, it got to where my call would drop and then I would never get my bars back, in fact it would say "Service Required" as though I wasn't even activated. So I called Sprint and they said to just pop the battery out and wait a few minutes and then put it back in. This worked initially but in the last month it got to where it would be five or six hours before it would start working again. Finally on Friday, it didn't work for almost 36 hours. Friday night I was on the phone with Sprint forever and they finally said I could take my phone and trade it in for a new one at a Sprint store. AND THANK GOD! Because I was losing it. Mad props go to Jenny, the technical support supervisor for Blackberry & Treo in Kentucky! She was amazing.
- I'm still trying to sell my van.
- I'm trying to figure out what everyone will be for Halloween, myself included.

Hello World, remember me?
That girl you used to dig? The one who used to post with regularity and some occasional hilarity? You don’t remember?
Ah, well I don’t blame you. She has been out of the loop a lot lately and if your attention has strayed to new and more exciting blogs, well who is she to bitch?
You ready for the reasons behind her semi-disappearance?
Here’s the deal: I went to work for the devil’s sister. Any semblance of relative freedom with a computer was TAKEN from my very hands and I became what can only be called a drone.
It sucked.
I didn’t realize it for awhile. Just thought I had a new kind of job and that was part of it.

That was, until I realized my very soul was being sucked out. My day to day happiness was like fuel for her Evil Fire. The more she stole, the more she could go home and cackle into her cauldron. And let me tell you, I got tired of being cauldron fodder.
Lesson learned over the last year: YOU SHOULDN’T HATE YOUR JOB PEOPLE!
You shouldn’t hate Monday and want to trade parts of your body to have a few more hours on Saturday and Sunday. If you do, CHANGE something. I can’t stress that enough. Already I am back up to 90% as opposed to the maybe 50% I had been working at for the last 8+ months. I’d be at 100% if my lazy ass was getting out of bed and doing a couple of miles in the morning AND if I could find a fucking house to buy! :)
The good news? I foresee much blogging in my foreseeable future as I have a job where I can do it from work again!
SO for those… what… two? Maybe two of you still reading? For you two clingons, I am thinking there will be content :) Yay for content!
TTYL!

blocked
First of all, thanks to ALL of you who emailed me yesterday to wish me a happy birthday :) I appreciate it so much.
I know, there's nothing here.
I am totally blocked World.
I can't write an email or in my journal, let alone a blog post that even remotely resembles entertaining.
I'm blocked.
I've got a bunch of stuff going on (totally typed "stiff" the first time and
trust me people I don't got none of
that going on).
I've got personal stuff, emotional stuff, work stuff, kid stuff.
I've got stuff.
Lots of it.
And not a lick of it blog worthy should I suddenly be able to break down the brick wall with the giant "No Complete Sentences" sign hanging on it.
Be patient with me, I'm still here.
I'm just quiet.

I just wanted to build a sandcastle.
So, The Cake Lady and I took our families to the beach last weekend and had a blast (pics on my flickr account as usual).
This year, I wanted to build the big & bitchin' sandcastle that I don't ever seem to get to build.
So, Craig (TCL's son) and I got to work.
A few hours later, I was in some pretty yucky pain.
Today, the doctor informed me that I have Forearm Tendonitis.
WTF?
How
old am I?
Info here: http://www.itendonitis.com/forearm-tendonitis.html
ps. This is, for a change, a completely valid reason for not posting. It hurts enough that I am using my left hand to operate the mouse.

"I thought she said she was going to start posting regularly again..."
She did, she did, she did.
But then she got slammed with what can only be described as two of the busiest weeks EVAR.
I knew that they were coming up but I have to admit that I thought all the hype was a little exaggerated.
It was not.
The week before the World Aquaculture Society Conference was Hell Week.
Every little detail of every little thing had to be done and ready to go by Friday afternoon so that on the following Monday, we could all load up and head to San Antonio (where we (we being me & The Co-Workers) would alternate taking shifts).
My mission? The Power Point Presentation.
Doesn't sound too bad does it? Even I, having never
used PP before, wasn't too freaked about it. I had known months ago that the presentation would be my responsibility. So, I had done something like ten slides back when my job wasn't something that kept me busy so I could get the hang of it. And with the hang of it gotten, I had shelved the presentation for more important and pressing work.
Let's fast forward to Monday of last week when I loaded my Mac Mini and 20 inch cinema display (yeah, my work computer shit rocks the house) into the Mountaineer to take to the show. The PP presentation, safely stored there, was now sportin' 80 slides.
All animated.
All covering some different aspect of what we do here at my job. (Which needs a name huh? Keep in mind that topping my last job's name, Fantasy Disco Ford, isn't exactly easy... How about Water World? That'll do.) Here at Water World, we do a LOT of stuff. Not only do we do basic distribution to some major places like Universities, Hatcheries, Fish Farms and State Aquariums, but we also cater to the entertainment industries, like your Sea Worlds and Rain Forest Cafes. And that comes all the way down to installations of new places and custom build applications.
Yeah.
It's very cool... but not exactly the easiest conversation flow. In order for me to dish about work, I always have to give thirty minute build up speeches first (many of your poor souls have been stuck having to listen to those and you may not realize it but the Friend Points you scored? Yeah, they were numerous.) and that just takes too long.
So, lets see how brief I can be...
Technically my job is Purchasing. But I've also been given ALL of our in house IT stuff too (Macs, all around, save one PC). And when I say IT, I mean everything from hardware to software and every stupid question you can possibly image about why you can't print or what's wrong with my screen or my mouse is frozen or I have an error message (winning error message thus far? "The following World Leaks were found..."). Every. Little. Thing. Add to that the recent occurrence of my semi-promotion to Sales and well, I keep busy.
So, I spent all of last week throwing together this presentation and finished it just in the nick of time.
Let me give you a rundown of my schedule last week: Monday? Went to work at 8:30a and got home at 9:30p. Tuesday? Regular hours. Wednesday? Went to work at 9:00a and got home at 10:00p. Thursday? Went to work at 10:30a and got home at 9:30p. Friday, this Monday and this Tuesday were all intense training days on top of all my regular work and implementing two new macs into our system. Yesterday was all catch up (which I am not yet) and now today? You get a blog post ;) Next week will be equally demanding since both bosses are out of town all week and I will be the only one in house that can do any sales work.
Have I adequately cleared up my absence? lol
On the flip side, I learned a helluva lot last week. I went to many "sessions" covering things like The History of Catfish Farming in Texas, Raising Fish in Cages Off The Gulf of Mexico, a bunch of various sessions on chemicals and additives to help fish grow or help improve their taste, and a ton of other topics I barely understood so can't so much convey. It was interesting. There is so much I didn't even know I didn't know - you know?
Not to mention that there was just a ton of eye-candy as these get togethers bring out a lot of college students that are majoring in one thing aquatic or another :)
So, there you go dear reader, that's all I have for right now. I'll try and get a little more regular about this :)
Have a good day people.

new toy
Yeah, yeah, I'm alive. What the fuck did you think? That Medic was going to track me down and stuff me in his trunk?
Ok, so I thought that too.
But then Jiffinner assured me that her husband's gun collection would keep him at bay...
So I am calming down.
And I have found that in the calming down process, my new toy is helping.
No! Not that kind of toy!
Geez, people.
This kind of toy.
Ahhhh, yeah.
Just got it yesterday and yesterday will forever be remembered as the day that Medic almost messed up New Palm Pilot Day.
[savvy?]
Anyway, since a few of you had written to ask if I was still alive and kicking, I figured I would take a very short break from my stupid pile of bullshit work and let you know that I am.
So, don't go deleting my blog from your sidebar just yet.
